Thinking Football Summit and EY renew partnership
For the second year running, the consultancy will be a Corporate Partner of the Grand Professional Football Fair, which will take place on 7, 8 and 9 September at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
The Thinking Football Summit and EY, Strategic Partner of Liga Portugal, have renewed the partnership established at the first edition of the Grand Professional Football Fair. The event will take place on September 7, 8 and 9, in Porto.
EY, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, and a Strategic Partner of Liga Portugal since 2018, is responsible for producing the Portuguese Professional Football Annual Report, making it an important addition to the Thinking Football Summit and confirming the success of the event's inaugural edition.
EY will be responsible for running, participating and moderating some of the Thinking Football Summit panel discussions, bringing to the city of Porto their experience and know-how on one of the most vital areas of the world of sport: the economic-financial one.
For João Medeiros Cardoso, Liga Portugal's Commercial and Sponsorship Director, "this is a renewal that we are very proud of, with a such an important partner. EY's presence at the event demonstrates and strengthens the partnership between the two institutions, which is increasingly transversal and involves cooperation in a wide range of areas. It's an honour to have this international partner on board, as we're sure they'll be fundamental in keeping the event at the high level we want it to be".
Miguel Farinha, EY Portugal Partner in charge of the Strategy and Transactions department, highlights the importance of professional football for the national economy, pointing out that in the 2021-2022 season it has contributed with 617 million euros to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to 0.29% of the national wealth, and created 3595 new jobs. "EY has been closely analysing the evolution and growth of this sector and is once again participating in this important event, which will undoubtedly provide a platform for reflection and debate on the current context and future trends and needs," adds Miguel Farinha, responsible for the various editions of the Portuguese Professional Football Annual Report, a document produced annually by EY in partnership with Liga Portugal.
