The Thinking Football Summit 2022 line-up continues to take shape and, this Thursday, the names of two more speakers who will attend the final event to be held on European soil ahead of the Qatar World Cup were revealed.
Charlie Marshall, Chief Executive Officer at the European Club Association (ECA), works hand-in-hand with ECA's President and its members and on a wide range of strategic, commercial and political matters concerning the development of club football across Europe.
Charlie joined ECA in November 2018 with a background of international executive experience at the intersection of sports, media and technology. In his previous role as Chief Operating Officer of Supponor, a sports media-tech company, he played a transformational role in bringing augmented reality technology to the global sports industry. Prior to that, Charlie spent over a decade in strategy consulting roles across the media, entertainment and communications sectors.
In turn, José Luís Andrade, General Counsel at the European Club Association (ECA), started his career in top tier Portuguese law firm Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA), forming part of the Banking & Finance Law department. Whilst at VdA, José Luis was posted on secondment in two leading financial institutions (Citibank Portugal and Banco Santander) as In-House Counsel.
In 2011, José Luis joined FIFA's legal department where he dealt with regulatory and contractual disputes involving associations, football clubs and agents. Following this he was attorney-at-law with David Casserly, gaining experience in international arbitration before various bodies, with a particular focus on football disputes. He then joined the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), where he acted as In-House Counsel in arbitration proceedings and as Head of the CAS Mediation Department.
José Luís is since 2018 the General Counsel of the European Club Association (ECA), where he heads the legal department and is responsible for all legal and governance matters involving ECA. José Luis is also currently a judge in the FIFA Football Tribunal.
