Rui Moreira: “This event has been a success”
Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, was one of the speakers at the Closing Ceremony that concluded the first day of the Thinking Football Summit 2024.
To close the first day of the Thinking Football Summit 2024 on a high note, a Closing Ceremony took place on the TFS Stage, featuring a speech by Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto.
“I am very pleased to see that this event, which started three years ago, has been a great success. It is a football event, the sport that so many are passionate about, and one that ensures our country remains competitive in such a demanding global industry. That’s why I have already spoken with Dr. Pedro Proença to renew the partnership between Liga Portugal and the city of Porto,” he revealed.
Furthermore, Rui Moreira is optimistic about the future of football, not only due to the renewal of leadership but also due to its reach to new audiences. “There is indeed a new generation of individuals entering the world of football, which I view with great hope and anticipation because we need a football we can believe in, with new audiences. For that to happen, we need to be exemplary, and events like this play a part in achieving that. Football is a sport based on fair play and competition,” he emphasized, looking to the future with optimism:
“That’s why it’s worth being here, to listen to your dialogue and to understand that football is thriving and is here to stay. It’s an industry that means so much to so many people, and we must keep those people in mind and provide the conditions for continued growth. So, congratulations, President Pedro Proença. Fantastic.”
