Artur Jorge confirmed for the Thinking Football Summit
Portuguese coach Artur Jorge, currently managing Botafogo, will be a featured speaker on the second day of the Thinking Football Summit, set to take place from September 12 to 14 at the Super Bock Arena in Porto. In a video conference that will connect Portugal and Brazil, the former footballer and SC Braga legend will share insights on leading top-tier teams, the lessons he has learned throughout his career, and the unique challenges faced by managers in modern football.
Artur Jorge's playing career was closely tied to SC Braga, where he spent 12 years, captained the team, and played nearly 270 matches, becoming a symbol of the club. As a coach, he made a name for himself in the club’s youth categories, leading teams like the U-15, U-18, and U-23 squads before taking charge of the senior team. Among his coaching achievements are winning the Allianz Cup and setting records for wins, points, and goals scored in a single Liga Portugal Betclic season with SC Braga, as well as guiding the team to the UEFA Champions League for only the third time in its history.
Now at Botafogo as head coach, a position he took charge in April 2024, Artur Jorge is steering the club to new heights, both domestically and internationally. Under his leadership, Botafogo is contending for the Brazilian championship and reached the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals for only the second time in the club's history. His team also made history by becoming the first to score in every match of the first half of the Brasileirão season in the current points-based system.
At the Thinking Football Summit, Artur Jorge will join a lineup of prominent figures in the football industry, including Antero Henrique, Sporting Director of the Qatar Stars League; Carlos Queiroz, former national coach; Claire Bloomfield, Director of Women's Football at the European Club Association; Deco, former Portuguese international and current Sporting Director of FC Barcelona; Francisco de Sá Fardilha, Technical Director of Women's Football at FC Bayern Munich; Guy-Laurent Epstein, Marketing Director at UEFA; Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga; Luis Campos, Sporting Director of Paris Saint-Germain; Nicolás Burdisso, former Argentine international; Ornella Desirée Bellia, Director of Professional Football Relations and Development at FIFA; Paulo Sousa, Portuguese coach of Shabab Al Ahli; Sol Campbell, former English international footballer and tech entrepreneur; and Stefano Braghin, Director of Women's Football at Juventus.
