Julie Uhrman, President and Co-Founder of Angel City Football Club, the most valuable women's football club in the world, Johannes Spors, Sports Director at 777 Partners, and Ignacio Villarroel, Second Vice-President of Club Atlético River Plate, are confirmed as speakers for the third edition of the Thinking Football Summit, which will take place from September 12 to 14, 2024, at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
With proven expertise in high-level sports management, these leaders will enhance the discussion panels by offering valuable insights into key trends and challenges in global football. Their participation will be essential in exploring new approaches and strategies shaping the sport's future.
Julie Uhrman
Julie Uhrman is President and Co-Founder of Angel City Football Club, a professional women's football team based in Los Angeles. It is one of the few professional teams founded and predominantly managed by women. The club made its debut in the National Women's Soccer League in 2022. Under her leadership, Angel City became the most valuable women's team in the world in 2024, valued at $250 million. Julie’s distinguished career includes accolades such as the 2023 "Game Changer" award from Sports Business Journal and inclusion in SportsPro Media’s Top 10 Influencers of 2023. She is a central figure in sports and technology, actively involved in the Los Angeles community and bringing an innovative perspective to sports team management with a focus on social and community impact.
Johannes Spors
Johannes Spors is the Sports Director at 777 Partners, where he manages operations for clubs including Genoa CFC, Vasco da Gama, Standard de Liège, Red Star FC Paris, Melbourne Victory, and Hertha Berlin. He has previously served as General Director at Genoa CFC, Sports Director at Vitesse Arnhem, and Head of Recruitment at HSV. Johannes has been part of the scouting departments at RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim. He holds a degree in Sports Science and Political Science from Heidelberg University.
Ignacio Villarroel
Ignacio Villarroel is a lawyer who graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina and a partner at the law firm Lopez Saavedra & Villarroel, recognized for his expertise in negotiation and management of complex legal cases. Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Ignacio has a long association with Club Atlético River Plate, where he has been a board member since December 2013. He has held several prominent positions within the club, including President of the Legal Affairs Department, President of the Security Department, President of the River Plate Foundation, and Secretary-General, and currently serves as Second Vice-President. He also represents the club in the Argentine Football Association and the Professional Football League. His leadership and legal expertise have been instrumental in the success and growth of Club Atlético River Plate.
