Sol Campbell joins the Thinking Football Summit
Sol Campbell, a former English international footballer, will be present at the third edition of the Thinking Football Summit, which will take place from September 12 to 14 at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
Known for his distinguished career as a center-back in both the Premier League and on the international stage, Campbell began his professional journey with Tottenham Hotspur in 1992. After nine years with Spurs, he made a controversial yet pivotal move to Arsenal in 2001. At Arsenal, he became a key defensive player, contributing to the team's success in winning two Premier League titles and two FA Cups. Notably, Campbell was part of Arsenal's "Invincibles," who completed the 2003-2004 season without a single league defeat, a unique achievement in English football history.
Beyond his remarkable journey at club level, Campbell had a significant international career, representing England in six major tournaments, including three World Cups (1998, 2002, and 2006) and three European Championships (1996, 2000, and 2004). Known for his physical strength, technical ability, and leadership on the field, he earned 73 caps and scored one goal. His solid presence in defense made him one of the most respected players of his generation.
Since retiring from professional football, Campbell has remained active in the sport and beyond. In 2024, he joined TALNETS as a partner, a technology company in the field of scouting, that leverages ML and AI to extract relevant events and data from match footage – for scouting, player analysis, content creation and other purposes -, with the ambition of democratizing the process of prospecting sporting talent, giving every young athlete the opportunity to be discovered.
Sol Campbell joins an impressive roster of speakers for the Thinking Football Summit, which includes notable figures such as Deco, former Portuguese international and current Sporting Director of FC Barcelona, Ornella Desirée Bellia, Director of Professional Football Relations and Development at FIFA, Claire Bloomfield, Director of Women's Football at the European Club Association, Nicolás Burdisso, former Argentine international, Bianca Rech, Director of Women's Football at Bayern Munich, and Stefano Braghin, Director of Women's Football at Juventus.
