The FIFA and UEFA Observer at the panel discussion on "How Will The New Laws of the Game Affect Match officials?"
With the kick-off of the Thinking Football Summit, the conferences started right away at the Super Bock Arena, in the city of Porto.
In the panel discussion "How Will The New Laws of the Game Affect Match officials?" was attended by Vitor Pereira, FIFA and UEFA observer, as well as Lukas Brud, CEO and secretary IFAB, and Duarte Gomes, former FIFA referee.
Lukas Brud gave his perspective: "I work with all the football levels and I think that changes to the laws of the game have to be applied from the amateur to the professional level."
Vitor Pereira explained that the criteria have to be clearer, to better apply the laws:
"We have to adapt the laws to the current game, tactics, strategies and models. We want a fairer, less controversial and more modern football. This is a very interesting event with great impact, I'm glad the Thinking Football Summit is happening. There are many subjects to debate, some more linked to the game itself, others more around the game. In our case, we have put forward some proposals within the legal framework of the game. Some of them are very strict, but they are proposals for discussion", he concluded.
Vitor Pereira explained that the proposals were related to the offside, handball and penalty-kicks rules.
