New partnership with The SHIFT Agency for a sustainable event
The Thinking Football Summit 2022 aims to be a disruptive and world-class event, covering various subjects that will mark the future of the beautiful game with sustainability at the very start of the event, an increasingly relevant and urgent topic for all sports.
In partnership with The SHIFT Agency, Liga Portugal and the Fundação do Futebol – Liga Portugal will transform the Grand Professional Football Fair into an initiative featuring greener practices, with the aim of holding an event over the years with a significantly reduced environmental footprint.
The SHIFT Agency is a group of committed experts and creative partners working with the world's biggest sporting events, as well as corporate and non-profit industries. The agency's mission is to contribute to a sustainable, healthy and prosperous society that integrates planetary boundaries and social justice in an exciting and innovative way.
The organisation provides measurable and scalable solutions to drive leadership and positive change. It focuses on impact and thrives on business performance through an integrated and innovative 360-degree approach.
The Thinking Football Summit 2022 sustainability and inclusion plan will focus on the following points:
Smart Mobility: The partnership with FREE NOW will provide an entire fleet of zero-emission vehicles to the attendees of the event so that their mobility is fast, comfortable and environmentally sustainable.
Circular Economy: The Thinking Football Summit will be an environmental-friendly event, with several recycling points inside and outside the Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota. There will also be a collection of organic waste for composting, in conjunction with Porto Municipality and in coordination with Lipor. It is also worth highlighting the fact that all the materials used in the decoration of the event can be reused in other Liga Portugal events.
Responsible Catering: Collection, by ReFood, of the leftovers from the event. The catering will have healthy and diverse food, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
Inclusion and Diversity: The Thinking Football Summit 2022 will also have a professional inclusion program where three disabled users from APPACDM will integrate the event's staff, in order to promote equal opportunities. The panel discussions have 30 women confirmed as speakers, thus promoting diversity in the event. In addition, there will be access conditions for reduced mobility and the event staff will have the collaboration of +50 volunteers.
Climate, water and energy: The choice of the Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota to hold the event was carefully analysed and selected by Liga Portugal, not only for its location and space, but also because of numerous sustainability features including being equipped with LED lights, which considerably reduces the event's energy consumption.
The Thinking Football Summit 2022 will be, with the contribution of The SHIFT Agency, an event guided by sustainable principles, ensuring that the many thousands of attendees who will come to the Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota will follow the environmental and social practices implemented at the event.
