The Thinking Football Summit 2022 announces a 100% Portuguese panel of speakers

Miguel Laranjeiro, Luís Sénica, Jorge Vieira and Vasco Costa will address the training of high-performance athletes in non-football sports

The Thinking Football Summit 2022 is right behind the corner and proceeds with the announcement of yet another panel of speakers who will be present at the Super Bock Arena - Pavilhão Rosa Mota in just over a month's time.

Miguel Laranjeiro, President of the Handball Federation of Portugal, Luís Sénica, President of the Portuguese Roller Sports Federation, Vasco Costa, President of the Portuguese Tennis Federation and Jorge Vieira, President of the Portuguese Athletics Federation, will be the protagonists and will debate and discuss the process of training high-performance athletes in these sports in Portugal.

Miguel Laranjeiro has been president of the Portuguese Handball Federation since June 2016, one of the sports with the greatest growth in terms of sporting results in recent seasons, having been re-elected in 2020 for another four-year term. During this period, it became possible to consecutively qualify the National Handball Team for the final stages of the European and World Cups, in addition to an unprecedented presence at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Regarding Luís Sénica, he is the current president of the Portuguese Roller Sports Federation and of World Skate Europe and one of the most prominent figures in the roller hockey panorama in Portugal. With a degree from Lusófona University in Physical Education and Sports, specializing in Roller Hockey, and a Master in High-Performance Sports Coaching, the administrator also has 20 years of experience as an athlete of the sport, representing clubs such as Sporting CP, HC Turquel, GD Sesimbra and HC Tigres de Almeirim.

Vasco Costa, President of the Portuguese Tennis Federation, has almost 30 years of experience in sports management, having recently been re-elected for the 2021-2024 triennium. In the presidency of the body since 2012, the current leader of Tennis in Portugal will serve his third term.

Last but not least, we have Jorge Vieira, President of the Portuguese Athletics Federation (FPA) since 2012, having been re-elected on two occasions, in 2016 and 2020. With several decades of experience in athletics, the sporting director was directly involved in the growth and professionalisation of the sport in Portugal.
